Prayer Focus for November 14-20

OPPORTUNITIES

What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make full use of my rights as a preacher of the gospel. Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessing. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
1 Corinthians 9:18-24

Other Supporting Scriptures:
John 4:34-36 & 2 Corinthians 5:11-21

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this season of prayer for our church and we are grateful for all you have done. Now we ask for the ability to focus on you alone and for you to position us in these days to be ready for every opportunity to share the good news of the gospel with those you would show to us. Give us your heart for the lost and to those who are far from you; our families members, neighbors and strangers alike. Give us courage through your spirit to be intentional to step through every door you open to reach this generation for Christ. Let us lead with love for all people, and give us grace to love even those who oppose us. Let us truly be ambassadors for Christ, becoming whatever we need to become to reach others for you. Father, I ask now for fruit and for a harvest in this season for your church and kingdom. It is in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!

OTHERS

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying
for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all
spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a
life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every
good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power
according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and
patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share
in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from
the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in
whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Colossians 1:9-12

With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view,
be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:18

Now this is eternal life; that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus
Christ, whom you have sent.
John 17:3

Heavenly Father, help us always to be mindful of others and pray for those
around us, our families, friends, neighbors and strangers alike. Empower us by
your love and through your Spirit to encourage one another to a life that pleases
you and brings you glory. Give us eyes to see our neighbors, and give us compassion
to reach out to them as you did. Let us be givers of grace and understanding and
help us to always be found alert and ready to share the good news of the gospel
with everyone we meet. It is in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!

Prayer Focus for October 31-November 6

HUMILITY

If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from
his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then
make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in
spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in
humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only
to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be
the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not consider
equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the
very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in
appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death- even
death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him
the name that is above every name, tat at the name of Jesus every knee should
bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father.
Philippians 2:1-11

Heavenly Father, we declare that we are a needy people in the midst of a needy
world. Our nation is so divided with seemingly everyone at odds with their
neighbors. We ask that you teach us to pray from your reality and with a Kingdom
perspective as we look at our nation and world. We ask that you give us your
grace and mercy as we humble ourselves before you as your church in these days.
Father, give us your tenderness and compassion for those around us, saved and
unsaved, break our hearts for what breaks yours and let us be agents of peace!
We ask, that by your Spirit, you give us the mind of Christ and the courage to be
your hands and feet to those around us. Let us look to the needs of others before
our own and to love others with the love of Christ. Give us the grace to always be
quick to forgive others for wrongs done to us and not take up offense against
them but rather show them kindness and compassion that leads to the gospel.
Father, as we seek you, as we focus on your Son Jesus, position us as your church
to bring glory to you in all things. It is in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!

In light of the importance of this time for our nation we are inviting our congregation to a 24/7 time of prayer this week. You will be given a link to a prayer calendar to choose one or more times to pray throughout the week for our nation, our leaders, and the church universal. Prayer times start Sunday, November 1 at 1:00P and will continue through Saturday, November 7 at 12:00P.

Prayer Focus for October 24-30

IDENTITY

BEING KINGDOM MINDED VS. WORLDLY MINDED

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special
possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of
darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are
the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received
mercy.

1 Peter 2:9-10

He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who
were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one
Spirit. Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow
citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the
foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief
cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a
holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a
dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit.
Ephesians 2:17-22

Heavenly Father, we are grateful for you that we are yours, that we have been bought
with a great price and that our identity is in you! Father we ask that you give each of us
greater revelation of who we are in you. Would you show us how in these days to be
kingdom minded and not be distracted or discouraged by things happening in our nation
and world. Help us Lord to set our eyes and hearts on things above and not things on
earth. As your people, lead us by your Holy Spirit to be agents of peace, unity and
righteousness. I pray, both personally and corporately, that we, your church, would
walk in the fullness of all you have created for us to be and to do. Position us for the
work of the gospel, and let us step into every opportunity as you lead us, not through our
planning or programs but by your Spirit. It’s in Jesus’ name we pray, Amen!

UNITY

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you
have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one
another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond
of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope
when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all,
who is over all and through all and in all.
Ephesians 4:1-6

I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all
of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions
among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.
1 Corinthians 1:10

Heavenly Father, we come to you today because we are a needy people. Many
are struggling with what they are seeing and experiencing in our world today.
Others are hurting and afraid of the discourse they see but not sure how to
respond to it. Father, we ask that you give us wisdom and revelation as to how to
stand together as your church. Give us the ability to set aside any differences that
we might have and look to you for the opportunity to bring unity and peace
wherever possible. We ask that your love would work so powerfully through us in
these days that it would have a life changing impact in our world. Father we ask
that you protect us from any scheme of the enemy that would try to divide,
confuse or bring strife of any kind. We ask that you make us one by the power of
the Holy Spirit so that your church can be your church in these days! Its in Jesus’
name we pray, Amen!
