What does it look like to persevere in following Jesus for a lifetime? It turns out Peter gives us some insight into what that life looks like.
Suffering is normal in a broken world. We know that is true intellectually but fight against it when it invades our world personally. Persevering to the end includes a pretty radical approach when we face the brokenness of this world face to face. “Unity of mind… sympathy… brotherly love… a tender heart… and a humble mind”; these traits mark those who have Staying Power.

I was running a few weeks back, got a wicked cramp in my calf, dragged my body home, then limped for a good week. Going the distance is not easy peasy – anyone who tells you so – is not living in reality. This week our study of 1 Peter gets real practical as it relates to our day-to-day living, and how we too can go the distance.

What inspires you? Not a question we ask ourselves very often, I know. Maybe it’s the time you get to spend with those you love, a view from the top of a mountain or the white sand and blue water at the beach. Those are great gifts that God has given us and they are to be enjoyed. But what about when life gets hard, or even overwhelming? This weekend we will see what Peter says can inspire us to live lives with Staying Power, when life is good and life is hard.
