The main roles for keys players in our worship sets are contributing to a full over-all sound, creating a stylistically appropriate atmosphere, and making smooth transitions throughout a set and service flow.

Ability to play with a click: Each instrument on stage will be required to know how to play along to a click or metronome track. Please make sure that you download the audition materials provided and submit your video with the track provided that has a click included.

Ability to learn parts by ear: We provide MP3 tracks on our Planning Center database for volunteers to learn their parts for the weekend. We will be looking for accuracy on the original parts recorded on the tracks.

Ability to demonstrate dynamics: The keys player must understand how to appropriately manage their volume and intensity of playing throughout a given song.

Ability to play chord inversions: Learning to work with multiple chord inversions can help bring a unique stylistic quality to the music. We will be looking for accuracy in the inversions played on the original tracks as well as creative additions from each individual.

Ability to play basic pad: A pad is often used to transition between songs or different elements of the service. We will be evaluating an individuals ability to create smooth pad transitions.

Experience with modern worship patches: A patch is simply the sound being utilized through the keyboard. In most cases, the keyboard will use a piano/pad patch. We will be looking for a keyboard player who is familiar with basic piano/pad patches; however, If you are able, you may also want to demonstrate experience working with multiple patches (synth, electric piano, organ, etc…).
