RHYTHM ELECTRIC

The rhythmic electric players serve similar roles to the rhythm acoustic players in that it is a role focused on identifying the rhythmic feel of a given song. This role typically provides a bigger and fuller sound than a rhythm acoustic due to the various effects that are commonly utilized.

What We’re Looking For:

Ability to play with a click: Each instrument on stage will be required to know how to play along to a click or metronome track. Please make sure that you download the audition materials provided and submit your video with the track provided that has a click included.

Ability to learn parts by ear: We provide MP3 tracks on our Planning Center database for volunteers to learn their parts for the weekend. We will be looking for accuracy on the original parts recorded on the tracks.

Ability to demonstrate dynamics: The rhythm electric player has at their disposal a wide ranging palette of dynamics. We will be looking for rhythm electric players that know how and when to utilize each end of the spectrum.

Ability to play various types of voicings and/or inversions that are utilized: We will be looking for electric players that have a wide vocabulary of various chord and chord extensions/ability to play each chord in multiple ways that would fit the song in the best manner.

Appropriateness of strumming/picking throughout a given song: This goes hand in hand with dynamics – the rhythm electric player must understand when to strum, what patterns to strum, how big or small the strum should be, and when and how to pick.

Appropriateness of tone – stylistic relevance: We will be looking for electric players that have a good working knowledge of how to utilize their pedalboard in a way that would maintain a stylistic relevance to the types of modern worship songs we play.
