Live It Out | A Daily Discipleship Guide

Monday

Jesus’ betrayal set in motion the greatest act of redemption in history. Ask Jesus, “Where have I experienced betrayal or deep relational hurt? How do you want to redeem & transform my story?” Make a plan for fasting and solitude/silence this week (if you’re attending Quiet Waters, Friday could be your day). During that time, ask Jesus the hard questions about your past. Who have you betrayed? Who has betrayed you? And how does he want to transform your story?

Tuesday

God’s purposes are not derailed by human failure. How do you respond when others wrong you? Reflect on the way David and Jesus respond to the pain of betrayal. What can you learn from their responses? How does it impact you to know that God is still writing the story? Where in your life do you feel stuck in a moment that is tough relationally? Ask Jesus, “How do you want to transform this relationship?”

Wednesday

In God’s story, what looks like tragedy is the beginning of redemption. Consider what you know of Joseph’s story and consider how God may be working beneath the surface of your own pain to bring life and healing. Have you experienced a situation that felt like a tragic ending, but God used it to begin something redemptive? How did it build your faith? Ask Jesus, “Where are you looking for me to grow in trusting you with my hurt?”

Thursday

Betrayal may shape the story, but it doesn’t finish it. David entrusts himself to God’s will, even as he flees the city. How are you learning to trust God with the outcomes of painful situations rather than seeking control or revenge? What does it mean to follow Jesus when those closest to you don’t remain faithful? Who are you struggling to trust again? Ask Jesus, “How do you want me to pray today?”

Friday

Jesus’ betrayal set in motion the greatest act of redemption in history. How have you seen God quietly working behind the scenes in situations that seemed hopeless? How can the way you have seen God work in the past encourage you to trust him today and tomorrow? What does it mean to make that decision in advance instead of waiting until someone hurts or betrays you? How can this transform the way you follow Jesus and see others?
